Specialties
PADI Underwater Navigator
Be the diver everyone wants to follow.
Always knowing where you are and where you're going completely changes how you experience a dive: less stress, more time to enjoy what you see instead of worrying about how to get back to the start.
What you'll learn
How to use a compass and natural references to navigate underwater, estimate distances covered, follow a route with multiple compass turns, locate and return to a specific point on the bottom, and draw an underwater map of the site.
Course structure
- Theory (eLearning): underwater navigation techniques, with practical exercises on the surface before you descend.
- 3 open water dives to apply what you've learned, with at least 5 compass turns in your navigation route.
The course is usually completed in 1.5–2 days. If you've already done the Navigation dive in your Advanced Open Water, you only need 2 more dives.
Prerequisites
PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent.
What's next
More confidence and independence on every dive, and a requirement already met for Advanced Open Water Diver if you haven't done it yet. This certification also counts towards Master Scuba Diver.
