Specialties

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy

The hallmark of an experienced diver.

Divers who move underwater with elegance, without effort, without touching anything and using very little air all have one thing in common: perfect buoyancy. This specialty takes your buoyancy skills beyond what you learned in Open Water, until they become almost automatic.

What you'll learn

How to determine exactly how much weight you need, how to position weights and equipment for balanced trim, streamlining techniques to move with less effort and use less air, and how to hover effortlessly in any position.

Course structure

  • Theory (eLearning): principles of weighting, buoyancy and efficient movement in the water.
  • 2 open water dives to practise buoyancy control with your own equipment.

The course is usually completed in half a day (2–4 hours).

Prerequisites

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent.

What's next

More relaxed dives, air that lasts longer and minimal impact on the marine environment you're observing. It also counts as an Adventure Dive for Advanced Open Water Diver and towards Master Scuba Diver.
