Specialties

PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

The world's most popular specialty — and for good reason.

Diving with enriched air means more time underwater, less post-dive fatigue and shorter surface intervals. If you do several dives a day or like to stay down for a long time, this specialty changes the way you experience every dive.

What you'll learn

Why enriched air (nitrox), with its higher oxygen percentage, gives you more no-decompression time; how to analyse a mix with an oxygen analyser; how to set your dive computer correctly for enriched air; and the equipment considerations for these mixes.

Course structure

  • Theory (eLearning): can be completed in an afternoon.
  • Practical session: apply what you've learned by analysing mixes and setting your computer with your instructor.
  • 2 open water dives: optional but recommended, to put enriched air into practice straight away.

The course is usually completed in 1 day.

Prerequisites

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent, good general health.

What's next

Enriched air available anywhere in the world, longer dive times and faster recovery between dives. This certification also counts towards Master Scuba Diver.
